Intel Corp. President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Otellini believes that US government has to boost broadband in the US like other governments around the world or just lose its preeminence in the technology markets. “We need to ask ourselves a fundamental question, and that is, Do we want to lead?” Otellini asked the audience of federal IT professionals. Regarding infrastructure build-out, “we’ve gone from leading to lagging,” he said. “Technology deployment is often a government mandate.” Of course there is a little hidden agenda here – they are pushing WiMAX, the only option they have of making money in communications right now.
