Metalink of Israel says it has started selling 100 VDSL chips that can send sen symmetric 100 Mbps for more than 200 meters. These products are targeted at two markets which are on the cutting edge of copper-based broadband: South Korea and Japan. The chips also maintains spectral compatibility with existing services such as ISDN, ADSL, and ADSL2plus. Teresa Mastrangelo, Principal Analyst at broadbandtrends.com says,”The perpetual development in xDSL technology and its ability to evolve to new record heights is yet another validation of the important role copper infrastructure will continue to play in future broadband services deployment.”
