Despite all the cutting edge technology and gizmos on display at the CES show in Las Vegas, many friends have informed me that network access is horrible. Some of them went without checking their email for nearly a day. WiFi was choked and well you if you could log on, the bandwidth was meager. Oh it is not a problem specific to the convention center. Jeff Pulver is stuck in bad weather with limited WiFi access at the airport. “While there is ‘free’ Wi-Fi access at the Las Vegas airport at the moment, the network administrators at McCarran are port blocking most applications including: VoIP, IM and telnet. The only thing which seems to be working is web access…and their wireless network is going up and down like a yo-yo,” he writes
