“Yesterday a Muslim man came to me and asked, ‘Father, can I enter the church? Can I stay here?’ I told him that we are all God’s children. You are welcome to stay here. It is only because of my cassock that you can make out that I am a Christian. I cannot look at you and think that.” Father A Anthony Swamy, parish priest at Lazarus Church, Chennai (via Aswath)

tsunami.png I have been getting a lot of email from folks wondering how to help the victims of the tsunami-earthquake tragedy that has taken place in South and South East Asia. I have pulled together a list of organizations which is an easy way to help the folks who have suffered for this most devastating tragedy. I have also this button which I have created with the help of Brian. You can link to the button from my site, and to the page, and help spread the word. (List of places/organizations to donate. keep reading!)

Chris has sent me this link to a torrent of some of the tsunami videos that were hosted at before being slashdotted to oblivion. He has converted them using prodigem and put them on the prodigem site for easy downloads. “The more people use this torrent, the faster everyone else will be able to download the videos,” he writes. Also you can use this this page to make it easy for people to put an amazon donation badge on their sites. (There is a lot of people who think US is being stingy with relief. Poppycock! US government doesn’t mean Americans are stingy. Surtaxes are simply dumb. You contribute because you care – and if $3.5 million already raised by Amazon charity call is any indications, Joe and Jane USA cares, thank you very much. (Another great website for finding relief efforts and how you can help!)

Here is the code:

Here is what I want you to do – pick one of the organizations and convince four of your friends to give $10. And then ask each one of the four to convince four more people. You know we might be just individuals, but we can pay it forward…. (the newest additions are at the top)

I think that the relief is coming from all nations, in one since, what can the average person do? Some aren’t inclined on dontating money, perhaps help with the relief by finding family members?

  2. That’s a great idea to pay it forward by having each individual donate $10. I, personally, volunteered my time by going down to Lafayette, Louisiana for a week and a half to join fellow Scientology Volunteer Ministers in disaster relief efforts. It was a very rewarding experience.
