Idiot Box, getting smarter

The second generation digital TVs should help the idiot box get a bit smarter, says Vamsi Sistla, ABI Research. Hitachi, LG and Philips are building hard drives, Interactive Program Guides (IPGs) and cable tuners right into these devices. Some will have as much as 80 GB disks enough to serve as storage for downloaded video. My biggest worry is that they might be cramming too many features into these things to turn off the US buyers. Oh wait… for men more is always better!
