VSNL Buys Tyco Network

India’s Videsh Sanchar Nigam, a Tata Group owned long distance provider has bought the Tyco Global Networks for $130 million. The deal was first disclosed here on this site, in July 2004, exclusively here first, and was later picked by other news outlets such as Business Week and Newsweek. The sale was a heavily contested one and including VSNL rival, Reliance Infocomm as well. Tyco says the deal is subject to government approval in the United States, India and other countries.
