Business 2.0: California says cell phones must be recycled. That’s just what little GRC wants to hear. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. That’s certainly true for GRC Wireless Recycling, a three-year-old startup based in Miramar, Fla., that’s in the business of recycling old cell phones. Suddenly things are looking up for this puny company. Last week California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation making his the first state to require cell-phone stores to recycle old phones. It was welcome news for GRC, the brainchild of 36-year-old former attorney Marc Leff and 48-year-old Henry Garcia, a former wireless phone company executive. The two met while working for CellStar, a cell-phone distributor. The duo has self-funded the venture with an initial investment of about $100,000. Subscribe to my email column
