MusicBy now just about everybody’s heard about the Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that lets anyone edit or add information. It’s a wonderful source of information about just about anything and has just celebrated its one millionth article. A source of useful information about music that is inspired by the Wikipedia is the Musipedia. They follow the same philosophy as the Wikipedia- anyone can add or edit information about any song. This information can be sheet music, a MIDI file, text about the work and composer, just about anything. The whole point of this is to generate a database about songs that anyone can search. Don’t know the name or artist? Just whistle or sing a bit of it and chances are Musipedia can find your song. Very cool use of collective effort.
