Fans of Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers can read about their teams’ dismal failure on their mobile phones, a tad faster, thanks to AT&T Wireless’ UMTS service, which was launched today in those markets. In July, AT&T Wireless began offering customers in Detroit, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle broadband mobile wireless services when it launched the first commercially-available true 3G UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) network in the United States. New Yorkers are feeling left out, because they now need to read news more often. Like this fan, they are wondering if The Yankees are going to make it to the playoffs. Anyway back to wireless, Ericsson is the main supplier to AT&T for this UMTS build out. Complete details here.
