Phone scoop says only Cingular and T-Mobile have tentative plans to carry the A630. I wish that Verizon would get off its ass and add this when they add the Motorola V710!

Wait so AT&T isnt goint to get I this phone? I thought AT&T and Cingular joined and are now in business with each other I thought that there was goint to be a big name change with the two companies to make one wireless company. And if it has a chip why do you need to have the carrier that the phone is under can’t i just add the AT&T chip and use it that way. Please let me know i would hate to switch carriers.

we don’t know if at&t wireless will carry this phone. on the issue of the merger, the phone is going to come out before the merger is completed and as a result one had no idea about how it is going to play out

Yeah, AT&T will not have Cingular’s nationwide coverage and the two providers won’t share phones until the merger is complete. Does anyone know when that will be? The AT&T rep said about a year or so. According to most sources I’ve read only Cingular will offer the phone at first. Of course if you can’t wait for others to wake up and add this phone, you can get it unlocked off Ebay (not for cheap of course) and take it to any GSM provider.

monica: it’s a GSM phone. Verizon is CDMA, and thus they won’t get it… There’s always the chance that if it’s a big hit they’ll do a CDMA one ;)

This phone is turning into quite the urban legend. I now hear that T-Mobile may release it this month. For a short while their website had a picture of Catherine Z-J holding one. I dunno, I’m thisclose to re-upping with Sprint and moving on with my life. Check out this article for the latest….

It has motorola’s own properiatary software as OS
