Microsoft is on the prowl again, and this time it might buy Network Associates, according to some published reports. The story was first reported by Computer Reseller News, and has since been picked up by several other outlets. In an increasingly broadband-enabled world, security is a crucial and perhaps the most important element of the network infrastructure. Greg Gorbatenko of Marquis Investment Research does not think that this deal is going to happen, and writes: “A purchase of NET would make MSFT a significant competitor, but that is not a deal we see coming to fruition.”
