UTStarcom to buy Audiovox Handset Biz for $165.1 Million

UTStarcom: is buying the handset business of Audiovox, a low end cell phone handset maker, indicating that it is pretty serious about entering the fast growing handset business, and leveraging its China manufacturing base to outhustle Nokia and others. It appears that UTSI wants to participate in the U.S. CDMA market (e.g., Verizon, Sprint). I think they will be leveraging Audiovox in Indian and other emerging cell phone markets.
