The PC growth bubble?

Big research firms like IDC and Gartner are calling for double digit growth in PC sales especially to the corporations. Media has dutifully reported this without much thought. Here is one, thanks to our friendly bubble buster, Ashok Kumar, who is now at Raymond James –

bq. Despite improving business IT spending, MSFTÌs PC unit growth outlook for F05 (June) of Ïmid to upper single digitÓ is five points below growth recorded in F04 (13%) and below forecasts (July-June 05) from IDC (+11%) and Gartner (+13%).

The two don’t add up, and even if you take into account that Linux is kicking ass, still the differential is just too much.
