Where is Microsoft?

Om Malik, Friday, March 26, 2004 at 12:03 PM PT Comments (0)

BusinessWeek online just announced their list of the 50 top performing US companies….eBay and Yahoo did really well, but what’s interesting is that Microsoft wasn’t even on there. Qualcomm makes it to the list.

Om Malik, Friday, March 26, 2004 at 10:03 AM PT Comments (2)

Keeping with all the buzz around WiMAX, here is another piece of news. Intel and Alcatel have teamed up to develop WiMAX silicon and equipment, which they will bring to market by second half of 2005.

Fixed Wireless: Like Viagra for DSL

Om Malik, Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 4:03 PM PT Comments (5)

I argued about Fixed Wireless as backhaul business yesterday and also had pointed to BellSouth buying fixed wireless spectrum from MCI for about $65 million. Today Glenn provides proof.

In defense of the cable guys

Om Malik, Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 7:03 AM PT Comments (3)

Yesterday, I did a quick summation of a report from ABI research on how broadband gateways were good for DSL guys. Well that innocous looking post got attention from some serious heavy weights, who corrected me, and said that the ABI analyst was completely off base. Since I did not really have an opinion on [...]
