Pessimism without Paradox

Om Malik, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 8:02 PM PT Comments (0)

There are two things about David Isenberg which make him one of sharpest and perhaps the wittiest commentators on all things telecom and technology. One is his uncanny ability to come-up with memorable headlines (I have shamelessly taken one of them, and put it as a header for my post, but then when something is [...]

Greenspan’s folly?

Om Malik, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 4:02 PM PT Comments (2)

Weblogs somehow manage to repeat inaccurate information. A lot of people are complaining about Alan Greenspan’s suggestions on how to re-jig the broken social security system. Many have had a knee jerk reaction to his proposals - which basically boil down to this: leave the current generation of boomers alone, but the younger folks including [...]

Om Malik, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 3:02 PM PT Comments (2)

How not to pay over $400/hour for public relations services… reads the email in my InBox. It is from some dude called Mark Burke at NMC Partners, an LA-based PR agency. This is how the email starts:
bq. A research report by Los Angeles-based NBC-TV 4 found that one well known large PR firm had been [...]

It is the later, but I can swear she used to spell it differently earlier, but I could be wrong…
And now [...]

Walmart.com Faces the Music

Om Malik, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 2:02 PM PT Comments (0)

Hardly, really…A bland interview with WalMart.com’s exec on its music service:
Q: Will we see a Wal-Mart-branded music player - an iPod killer?
A. We’re always looking at opportunities to offer our customers products and services that they have a use for, so that’s one possibility…

Om Malik, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 8:02 AM PT Comments (0)

Microsoft is desperately trying to get a toe hold in the digital music business and is now backing any all comers.
