CES was such a blur that many great stories got overlooked. One of them is that Intel is becoming well, Intel of the MP3 player business. According to this press release, Intel’s XScale Processor is the brain under the hood of many consumer electronics devices. “Creative Labs, iRiver America and Samsung to help them deliver a new category of digital devices called Portable Media Players (PMPs) that operate on Intel(R) XScale(R) technology to enable long battery life and high-quality video and audio.” I mentioned this in my story, The Next Big Thing, which appeared in the July issue of Business 2.0 and pointed out that Intel’s Xscale is the real hot chip of the future.
