It is a rumor which simply never dies. According to BusinessWeek, the ailing Cingular Wireless is looking to buy another major GSM Carrier. The details of the rumor were first reported in Business Week and since then have been picked up by other media. I reported on this rumor back in May 2003 in this story. I still believe that instead of Cingular buying anyone, it would be a merger of equals. Nevertheless whatever the outcome, in a recent article I had predicted an industry consolidation, so this would not be a surprise.
