Push-to-talk goes GSM

Nokia will release its first Push To Talk handset in second quarter of 2004. The Nokia 5140 will offer other features beyond PTT including a camera, compass, and flashlight. Quick Takeaway:

* Every one wants a piece of the Nextel action, hoping to slice some of the market share away by introducing the Push To Talk feature.

* American consumers (at least the bill paying old times and business executives) continue to shun SMS and Text Messaging and continue to rely on the ole faithful, voice.

* It is not a sure thing, for Motorola is still having some issues with its CDMA PTT phones.

* Nextel, they got nothing to worry about, for they wrote the market on this PTT thing.
