With $2 billion in annual sales at stake, it’s no surprise that analog incumbents Alcatel, Avaya, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks, and Siemens are girding themselves to take on the interloper, Cisco Systems. Many of us focus on the big problems telecom companies are facing - flight of customers to wireless services, switching to local competitors or simply those pesky financial issues like billions upon billions in debt. However, there is one little issue which gets overlooked - customer satisfaction. Now if we stopped for a minute and thought why are these people switching from the Bells or long distance companies? It was mere minutes away from Red Herring (version 1.0) offices. It was a rather interesting meeting, and we discussed the state of affairs of the industry, voice over internet protocol and how Pulver was going to start a revlolution. Continue »
