Microdoc News, which is an excellent site on nano-media issues (started with heavy Google focus and has now expanded and re-designed), has an interesting way of looking at nanopublishing: “As a Nano Publishers I do not produce a “thing”, I do not sell you a book, or a magazine, or another object. I operate a service of updating you with information on specific topics… No, it did not cost me anything to reproduce it once I have made it. So why should I charge you for something that I did not have to pay to reproduce….Nano Publishing is centrally a service business–publishing has been divorced from making things–it is now about providing a service. To make money, it must obtain services in congruence with its activity.”
