MarketWatch.com, which till now has mainly focused on the consumer market, is trying to make inroads into the institutional market, placing it in direct competition with players like Reuters, Bloomberg and others. It has just launched “MarketWatch Professional Trader feed”, and hired three senior journalists from AFX in the U.S.

This new service will compete with wire services, according to the company. The service is part of the “World Business News” alliance which the company formed with newswires France’s AFX News and China’s Xinhua Financial Networks, earlier in April.
