, the in-demand Arab network, has launched a wireless news alert service with technology from London-based company Pervasive Edge. The service will transmit breaking news headlines via text messages in English, as well as in Arabic, to over 130 countries. Pervasive Edge already provides similar technology to CNN.com.

People can subscribe to the service, by signing up through ?s website at mobile.ajazeera.net (that is if the site is ever spared from hackers) for a monthly fee of $5.99.

Also read a story done on the news by Guardian Online: apparently, the service was launched in an effort to bypass the hacking attacks that have crippled its online operation.
