Australians could be paying for MP3 files over the telephone following the announcement of plans by peer-to-peer provider Altnet to use controversial internet dialer technology as a micropayments system. Drilliant Digital Entertainment, parent company of Altnet, is pushing for alternatives to credit-card sales. BDE CEO Kevin Bermeister said internet dialers, which disconnect users from their ISP and reconnect to a premium-rate or international number, were an option.
