ABCNews.com may turn a profit this year as more high-speed Internet users agree to pay for video content, according to Bernard Gershon, GM of the site. Gershon said his division was very quickly moving toward becoming profitable and could break even for the full 2003 fiscal year, which ends in September.

ABCNews.com last week launched a 24-hour service with live feeds and coverage of world and domestic events and is working on technology to let users download and effectively rent short, very high quality videos, such as sections of television news magazines, to view for a limited period of time, Gershon said.
