Globalvision News Network’s Ambitious Attempt to Charge for International News: Globalvision News Network, an independent global news-and-information service from the same company which runs the popular media criticism site MediaChannel, is now turning its daily e-mails news feeds into paid services. The news service, launched right after the 9/11 attacks, is an ambitious attempt at tracking international news from sources not normally heard in U.S.– syndicated stories from all over the world, from local newspapers in, say, Indonesia, Egypt or Russia. The service’s pitch: “That GVNews.Net touches many a raw nerve is testament to local journalists’ ability to dig deeper than the rest (reporters from AP, Reuters, CNN and the like).”

Price: for GVNews.Net Shadow: $25 a year; for The News Not in the News and Global Op-Ed: an additional $25; or the full Global Daily Edition–all three newsmails–for $40.
