CNET to Buy U.K.’s Silicon.com?: Technology publisher CNET Networks may buy Silicon Media Group, the European online tech publishing business, for up to £30 million. The company had two big media assets: A broadband TV station (now effectively mothballed) and a personalization/targeting software platform called Bladerunner. Rumors are that Silicon is preparing to junk this software. The company also has its flagship news/recruitment site Silicon.com.
If the buyout happens, the combination of the firm’s ZDNET UK sub and Silicon would be comfortably the UK’s biggest online tech publishing operation by turnover.
