Yet more research on how consumers are using the web: Accenture has some global data saying that almost 40 percent of web users watch video, 54 percent of young people want to create or share their content and 65 percent of people under 24 want to play games online. Respondents said they wanted more control over when and where they watched footage, yet only 20 percent said they were interested in mobile content and 54 percent said they’d still rather watch downloaded video on a TV rather than online. An Accenture rep said: “The implications for industry players are that compelling content is necessary, but not sufficient. They must experiment with new channels of content distribution and new business models.”
